What is covered?

Typically, illnesses such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart attack, strokes, blindness and deafness are covered. Think of this as cover for a critical illness, something that would prevent you from working for a long period or even forever. Also, an illness that may require you to modify your home.

It is also possible to get a more comprehensive policy that protects against additional conditions including things like loss of limbs, Parkinson’s Disease, and Alzheimer’s.

The types of illness that are covered depends on the policy.  That’s why it is important to not only read the small print but to use a competent Protection Advisor.

When you buy critical illness cover, you will need to provide the insurer with full details of your medical history. Depending on the policy, you may not be covered for any pre-existing medical conditions you have.

How does critical illness insurance work?

This type of insurance pays a lump sum benefit if you suffer a serious illness during the policy term.

We often write this type of policy alongside life insurance.  This means our clients and their loved ones are protected should they become critically ill or die.

The pay out from a critical illness policy can be spent however you wish.  This could be to clear a mortgage or make modifications to your home.

How much does critical illness cover cost?

The premium depends on several factors, mainly your health, age, if you are a smoker and your medical background.

If you would like a free no obligation quote for critical illness cover please speak with one of our Protection Advisors.
